So I gave it a week or so in between the setting up of the blog and really starting to get into the deep shit. And it has paid off, to be honest, since I'm starting to notice little things that bug the hell out of me.
For example: the light issue.
I know that dorm lighting sucks. It does. And in our room, they gave us just about the worst fluorescent lights you could possibly buy. Glad to see where my room&board money is really going. (Obviously not to heating either, if you read my previous posts. If not, our heaters are forever broken.) Anyway! The problem with my roommates is that they like to turn the lights out quite early in the evening, and sit in total darkness. While that's okay with me when I'm not doing anything that actually requires the light, it pisses me off to no end when I'm obviously looking at papers or books and I have no source of light except either A: the faint glow of my laptop or B: the horrid fluorescents. On occasion, they will look directly at me, and still turn the lights out. Like hello, I am still working here and it's only freaking 8 o'clock at night. So my options are to then pack up and move to another building that does keep its lights on, or to pack up and give up on getting anything else done.
I have an excellent relationship with my roommates.
Another thing I so deeply enjoy is when Queen Bee and Party complain about their sorority. All I can think is: "Why the hell did you join when you don't even seem to like them?!" I mean, at least Party goes out every Thursday/Friday/Saturday with them and enjoys some quality drinking time with her sisters. The other, Queen Bee, well she doesn't seem to do crap. The most she does is go to the chapter meetings and mandatory study sessions. She never goes out with them. Or hangs out with them. Just because you can afford to be in a sorority doesn't mean you have to be in one. Just saying.
So just now Queen Bee comes in from being out all day (which was like heaven), and the first thing she bitches about is her headache, and her sorority. No, I don't give a fuck about whether or not your head hurts, and I absolutely don't care about whichever of your sisters is whining about what minuscule issue now.
To solve her headache problem, she immediately asks Party if she has Advil. I'm sorry, but doesn't everyone own some form of ibuprofen? You'd think that every family would send their kids away to college with some pain relievers and band-aids. I guess not. But I was not really surprised that she had to ask someone else for something that she needed, because it's a recurring trend of her's where she uses other people's stuff.
Example A: I see her use one of my roommate's brushes to brush her hair all the time. What? Do you not own a brush?
Example B: She asks to use my nail polishes all the time. You know I don't like you. Why would you even ask to use something of mine?
Queen Bee drives me nuts. I'm looking forward to the end of the semester when I'll never have to live with her ever again.
